Legendary comedian Ron James decides to give up his life as a stand-up comedian to pursue his true passion as a treasure hunter. With a map he found hidden in an old boat, the fearless joke smith turned adventurer is now determined to uncover the long-lost treasure of Oak Island.

Enter the Picture has been working with iconic comedian Ron James for a decade, producing 4 one hour stand-up specials and then 5 seasons of the weekly stand-up/sketch comedy series The Ron James Show.

Stand Up Specials

Following the series wrap, we returned to Ron’s first love – live stage performance – and shot 4 more stand-up specials which aired to record ratings in the prestigious 9 p.m. New Year’s Eve time slot on CBC. 

These annual specials tackled the news and political headlines of the year through Ron’s unique perspective, while also touching on relatable day to day challenges like changing technology, aging and new trends like vaping and goat yoga.

Shot in different theatres across Canada where Ron has been performing to sold-out audiences for over 20 years, each show was performed in front of a set specially designed to reflect Ron’s brand and the content. Unlike the standard curtain backdrop commonly seen in stand-up specials, we created a visually stunning environment that honoured the bones of the theatre and provided subtext to Ron’s comedy.

In this hilarious and heartwarming hour of TV, Jonathan Torrens returns to his birthplace of Charlottetown to mark Canada’s 150th in the place where it was born, too! Featuring an “Ice-tacular” Zamboni race, the World’s oldest drag queen, and ‘Slappy the Trivia Beaver’ - a food-flinging keeper of questionable Can-con. In “Canada Calling”, Jonathan plys unsuspecting Canadians with ridiculous market research questions to see if he can keep them on the line. Also includes visits to a maple syrup factory and to the men and women stationed at the northern most point on earth, at Canadian Forces Station Alert, Nunavut.
